10/13/05--The Spirit of a Banjo Player

I did a short set with camp attendees and another with the group, Hardrive. For the first time I missed my banjo - Nick, Mick, Chris and Lachlan were a powerhouse (I didn't have a banjo that allowed me to float with their power). An "after hours" session with Nick was one of my highlights of the week. Turns out he was a Tommy Jarrell fan and the session we had playing some of Tommy's old tunes was a joy for me.

I played downtown Wagga with the Hardrive Bluegrass Band. What a treat - to be able to "feel" the music around me - authority, power and confidence. Those guys captured a lot of the aggressive power that I have always found to be fascinating. Each was very accomplished on his instrument. I did the best I could to stand up to the challenge.
